Dancing Maidens -
Traditional quilters have been making
variations of Sunbonnet Sue blocks for decades. This is my southwestern
interpretation of Sunbonnet Sue with a taste of the Southwest. Simple
shapes make it easy to appliqué. These Dancing Maidens gracefully dance
to the beat of the drums.
Instructions are included for 2 different size
quilts, 30" x 30" and 72" x 86".
Blocks are machine appliquéd and can be
embellished with ribbon, braids, fringe and beads.

BOLD
NEW BEGINNINGS
The
abstract appliqué bird design was inspired by the mythological bird,
Phoenix. The Phoenix is most commonly a symbol of hope, renewal and new
beginnings. I enjoyed blending traditional imagery, abstract design and
bright, bold color to create a dynamic contemporary look.
The quilt
measures 61" x 73".
